REVERE BEACH PARTNERSHIP CLEANUP A HUGE SUCCESS!

Contact: Christian Scorzoni June 9, 2003 (617) 650-2213

This past Saturday, over a hundred volunteers participated in the Revere Beach Partnership's annual cleanup on the beach. The event, which kicked off at the Reinstein Bandstand, was a major success, despite the rainy weather.

During the event, volunteers put on their gloves, grabbed a poker or a rake and hit the sand to do their small part in keeping the beach clean. Other volunteers participated by sweeping out the pavilions. When all was said and down, the volunteers had cleared a large portion of the beach from trash and debris.

Participants at the event enjoyed entertainment by DJ Dave Tibbetts as well as prizes and refreshments. In addition, the Revere Beach Partnership awarded prizes to the top three finishers of their Litterbug Mascot Poster Contest, which is part of the group's anti-litter campaign on Revere Beach. The winners received savings bonds from the partnership and will have their posters displayed at Revere City Hall throughout the summer.

Attendees at the event included Mayor Thomas Ambrosino, Representative Kathia-Anne Reinstien, Councilor George Colella, Councilor John Powers, Councilor Anthony Zambuto, Councilor Ira Novoselsky, the Revere Beautification Committee, Revere CARES, the Revere First Committee, the Revere High School Football Team, the Beachmont School and the Saunders Group Green Team.

The Revere Beach Partnership would also like to thank the MDC for their assistance in making the cleanup such a great success along with the generous corporate donations from ComCast, Monadnock Water, and the Home Depot in Everett.
